John Mahler

John Mahler’s passion for driving dates back to the 1960s and his first Porsche 356. But it wasn’t until 1986 that he took a definitive step into the motorsport world that has since seen him driving or instructing at 41 tracks in Canada, the U.S.A., and Europe.

It all started out calmly enough at Mosport, first driving and then coaching for Porsche and BMW club events. Further afield, John joined Bobby Rahal’s TrackTime based in Ohio and a year later in 1987, John was traveling up and down the U.S. Eastern seaboard lapping and instructing at tracks from Mont Tremblant, Sebring, Bridgehampton, Roebling Road, Memphis International Motorsports Park, and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, to Watkins Glen, Nelson Ledges, Road America, Michigan International, Las Vegas International Speedway and more.

Other highlights for John have included the privilege of driving at Italy’s Monza and Targa Florio and at Catalunya in Spain. A consummate organizer with a passion for sharing his knowledge of track etiquette and high performance driving, John has also been asked to participate as an on-track coach for organizations such as Panoz Motorsports, Proformance of B.C., the Ferrari organization, the Lamborghini Club, Porsche and Corvette and Cadillac.

Since 2003 John has been chief instructor for many track day driver education programs based at Mosport, Shannonville and Cayuga. An average of 40 plus days per summer have been spent instructing and organizing drivers’ education programs at these famous tracks.

When John is not busy running track events, he is at the computer or behind the wheel, dealing with testing, reviews and inquiries, as the Toronto Star’s Tire Guy for Wheels.

As a creator and organizer of track and testing events, teacher of driver enhancement skills, as an encouraging and enabling driver coach and mentor on and off the track, John has garnered a loyal following and is constantly sought after as the man to look to for your safe driver enhancement experiences.
